Ever since I read about castile soap online, I have been wanting to try it. And then I found this one – made locally, by Organic Machine in Pretoria.
Castile soap originated in Castile in Spain, and is made using only natural ingredients (predominantly olive oil) which is gentle on your body (or your baby’s or pet’s body) and the environment. It is also incredibly versatile, and traditionally can be used as a shampoo, body wash, and even household cleaner. However, the one I bought here has lots of essential oils and I wouldn’t want to waste it on cleaning the house!
This castile soap has a lovely aroma, because of the essential oils in it, which include mandarin, sweet orange, rose geranium and grapefruit. I’ve mostly been using it on my face, although I do find if I leave it on for a little while it burns, so it may not be as gentle as I first anticipated. (That or my face is more sensitive than I realised – which is very possible!)
Also to add that it doesn’t have any foaming agents, so don’t expect a thick foam when using it.
